well I just got this van running and now it wont stay into gear. So before I break it down and pull everything back out any silver bullets that you would recommend checking first? Linkage? Detents? Anything will help thank you

The way I read your post is that you had the engine and transmission out and put it in. Check the fluid in the transmission. With lack of fluid it may not be going all the way in gear.
