I have a 2009 Pontiac Vibe that will not start about 6 or 7 times a year.
• If you let it set for 20 minutes it will start and run perfectly.
• It does not put on the check engine light or any other light. Also no flashing Security light either
• The engine cranks over just fine.
• Does not put any codes in the computer.
• It does not matter if it’s the first start of the day or the last, or if it was in the garage or outside.
• It does not matter if its winter or summer.
• When you try to start it will only start for a second then quit.
• It has the 1.8 L engine.
• It happened for the first time about 3 years ago and then it was about 6 months before it happened, but it’s been getting more frequent.
Local GM dealer was no help, but in there defence every time I took the car in it was working fine and there were no codes in the computer.
Please help

Does not have to code to not start. That is a fuel control system, not a no start system

i would take a guess that the fuel pump may be intermittently not working. The pressure needs to be monitored when it wont start

Thank you for your reply
Monitoring the fuel pressure when it won't start is going to be dificult because you never know when it not going to start and unless you get the fuel pressure guage on it with in 15 or 20 minutes, then it works fine. Do you think that I should have the fuel pump changed?
Thanks Joe

Not until it is confirmed. It is an expensive guess
