I have a 2009 Galant Ralliart which I bought as a demo with 6,000 miles. I now have 74,000 miles on the car. I have taken very good care of the car. I had timing belt replaced, water pump, spark plugs, and belts at 60,000.

Just in the past few weeks the car starting getting louder, and sounded just horrible when starting it after sitting in the cold all day. Started squealing. Took to a local shop - I had to get a new alternator as a bearing was bad and replace the serpentine belt and power steering belt. The car is quieter, but still not 100% better. It is a knocking noise or sound of a fan or belt when cold.

Also have been hearing some crunching noises when going over bumps or leveling out after going up a steep incline. I have had 3 separate mechanics/shops look at the car and everyone says the front suspension looks tight, and nothing seems loose. I know this is not normal - I drive my car every day. This was not always makign such noises!

For the belt noise if you ddint' change tensioner on fan blet when it was replaced it should have been. Try some grease on the springs where they make contact or oil and see if sound(scrunching goes away or decreases). It cold also be items 2 &3 on top of strut, see pic.
