I have a 2009 hyundai elantra with 48,000 mile I have notcied that recently the transmission has been acting strange. Sometimes when you put it in reverse it takes a minute to engage. Another problem I'm having is sometimes when I accelerate and let off the gas and go to accelerate again it will rev up to 4 rpms and slowly start giving me power. Another thing I've noticed is when I'm geting on the freeway sometimes when it gets up in higher rpms the rpms will jump up right before it shifts. I took it to my local Hyundai dealership and they said everything is fine with it. It just needs to be flushed and serviced. I think there is something they are not telling me though.

Sounds like there is a problem with the transmission somewhere.I dont see how flushing th transmission is going to fix those issues.I also dont belive in flushing transmissions it can cause more problems then the transmission has before the flush. So I take it the transmission is under warranty?

Yeah it is. The car has a 60,000 powertrain warranty. Hyundai likes to beat around the bush though for serious repairs it needs.

It sounds like you could have a pressure issue inside the transmission with the delay in reverse and the issues of sounds like sliping in the forward gears. Its hard to say withou performing a pressure test etc. But doesnt sound like a problem that a flush or transmission service will solve. Have you kept up with all the maintance?

I would get it fixed before you do more damage to the transmission like burning up clutches etc. Keep me posted on what they find.

Well I just had my transmission flushed and that didn't work so the hyundai dealership reset the computer for the transmission so it has to relearn itself. Those two things made the problems so much worse. I went to pass somebody today and when it got up to 5000 rpms it tried to shift but it wouldn't so it sounded like the governor was kicking in until it shifted. I called the hyundai dealership and I guess they said they're gunna have to put a new transmission in it.
