My car seems to not have full compression, I think it's called. It doesn't sound like a hole in the muffler but it accelerates and decelerates with a sound kind like that, where you can hear the pistons firing, like a wah-wah-wah sound (not solid sounding as it once did). Is a spark plug bad or something like that or might I have a cracked gasket? Sorry, not very handy, if this sounds dumb.

It's ok. How does the car run? Does it have power? Any check engine light on? It it using more fuel than it used to?

Thanks. No engine lights and the MPG is about 44, highway. Not much different from when I bought it. It sounds more like an air gap or something, like the fuel isn't exploding efficiently, despite the decent gas mileage. The sound is probably combustion related, I assume, given the acceleration/deceleration connection.

I would suspect an exhaust leak, specifically around the flex pipe.
