Well, the car is made for europe, 2800 engine, 5cyl and all of a sudden get stuck in 2-nd gear. Is a 2009 4wd sxt dodge nitro, diesel engine. The service where it is told me the problem is with the computer. My question is ( if anyone have any idea) how much is the cost of the computer? Can be any other cause for this? Thanks!

I just got the info stating that, after some tests, seems like the problem is the computer. Any idea how much is the computer and if it fits from any american models of nitro's?

They are vin specific and have to be programed to your car. Check with a dealer or a pro that can do that

Ok, here are some updates. The car was taken out of the service, they said checked the transmission solenoids and were ok and changed the TCM, and in less than 10 miles. Same problem: the car got stuck into the second gear and enter into the service mode, unable to shift up or down. Any idea what can be wrong or what else can cause this problem? I am guessing this have nothing to do with cars being made for or in Europe, I am assuming are cars here that work in the same way, the problem is with finding/changing parts.

Do what I said in first reply if it is in limp mode it's either a tcm/elecetrical problem or interanal trans problem.

The latest info that I received is that when the car get stuck into the 2nd gear, some display shows the following " no signal rotation sensor number 2" What that means? Where is that sensor and how can I get there? Any idea how much that part cost?

Like I said take this to a trans guy it's item 6 in the one drawing and the other pic tells how it operates. It is pressed into the planetary gear set and goes against the case INSIDE the trans.

Thanks so much. I think I will have my husband look at it, considering the fact that the people at the authorized garage where the car was, wasn't able to fix it. Do you have any idea which cars have the transmission like the Nitro? From the TCM experience, I was told that crysler 300c and newer models of intrepid.

What part don't you understand? This transmission has to come apart to fix these sensors that is why you should go to a trans guy he will know and should be able to fix it.

I do understand that and I really really appreciate your help. What I was trying to say is maybe some other transmissions uses the same sensors. Or in other words; take the sensors from a chrysler tranny and put them into this nitro tranny.( Interchangeable parts I think is the term)
