2008 Volvo S40 unknown noise

I have 2.0d 2008 volvo s40 and a deep whirling noise has appeared which seems to be coming from the front of the car but the noise can only be heard from the inside and have no idea what it could be.

Have you checked to see if there are any vacuum leaks?

No I haven't im a bit of novice when it comes to cars so how would I check this?

Many techs use carb cleaner and spray it around the vacuum lines. If the engine increases in speed, then there is a vacuum leak. Just be careful not to cause a fire. Carb cleaner will burn.
