I have a 2008 Saturn outlook. Today after driving my suv I turned off my engine and removed the key, but the engine continued to run. When I pushed on the gas the engine shut off. What could be causing this? Is it still safe to drive until I can get it into the shop next week?

There is a TSB on this.
Check if the front right floor carpet is wet. If yes, water has gained entry to the IP BEC causing communication issues between modules.

You need to check for leaks and ensure the drain hose for the sunroof is plugged in securely.

It is best to get this rectified asap as prolonged presence of water in electrical/electronic components can result in other complications.
