Battery went dead

My 2008 Nissan xterras battery went dead and I tried to jump it and now the hazard lights are flashing and the instrument panel wont work and the car still will not start what do I do?

Have you fitted a new battery and checked that the battery connections are clean and tight, you old battery may have a collapsed cell and is shorting out internally, this is how most batteries fail, and if yours is the original, I would be looking here first.
