Caliber 2008

Tonight our 2008 Caliber had to be towed. It was running fine until we stopped at at light and when it was our turn to accelerate the car wouldn't go. We we're able to get the car into a parking lot but soon noticed we weren't able to move the car in drive or into reverse. Plus a puddle of clear looking fluid started pilling up under the car. What could be the problem?
