light stays on whilst driving beep goes saying faulty every time car starts

There's at least one diagnostic fault code stored in the Engine Computer. Having those codes read is the place to start. They will tell you the circuit or system that needs further diagnosis. There are hundreds of fault codes, so telling you what the fix is would be impossible. You need a mechanic.
