When I start my truck the dash board and gauges don't come on.

None of the gauges respond, after it is driven a few miles and I turn it off the gauges work.

It sounds like the cluster has either a bad connection in the back or it is failing and may need replacing. Have it check at a shop with a scan tool that can check for codes in the ipc.
