2007 Pontiac G5 CAM shaft sensor

When I check the sensor with my volt meter, I got 2.5 going in & 2.5 coming out on the back sensor. For the front I got 2.5 going in but about.5 or so coming out. What should be the readings & how would you test the sensor? My cars idle keep going high & slowly comes down. I attached 1 of those ob2 tester & it read that the can shaft sensor is over advancing. What would be the problem? Thank u I hope to hear from u soon.

These sensor required electrical diagnostic equipment (osilliscope) to accuratly test the sensor. Usually the diagnostics is to rule everything else out so the only thing left is the sensor.
You said you used an obd scan tool. Could to send me the code from the scan tool? It is usually a four digit code. Example p0340.

I'm sorry I don't hhave itI, used my friends I mean I might b able to get. It when I used the scanner it read can shaft sensor over advancing, & I read some where that could be 1 sign that its going bad is this true? I watch on u-tube u can use a amp or volt meter by sticking pins in the back side & check for voltage & it went in @( 2.5) & came out @ (2.5) on the back 1 & the front 1 went in @ (2.5) & come out I think if I was doing it right (.5). Camshaft sensors are not actuators and they don't advance anything. They merely read. You are not even close to getting to the bottom of this issue and in fact haven't even determined what the issue is yet. We absolutely have to have the exact code number to be able to have any idea what you are dealing with.
