The car has repeatedly turned off when the car is put into park and now will turn off during low throttle applications.

My 2000 Taurus DOHC, 24 valve started to abruptly shut off once and a while when coming to a stop. I replaced all upper and lower air intake gaskets as wells as injector o'rings. While taking apart to replace the gaskets I found a large diameter (like a thumb) but short hose (Vacuum I believe) BELOW the intake opening after the big tubing from the filter box attaches to the main intake that was very softened and clearly could collapse together when the engine was running and replaced that also. Haven't had a problem since.

Possible vacuum problem, letting too much air in and not enough gas. Air intake gaskets and vacuum hoses.
