I have a ford focus 1.6 diesel, 2007, with a 127co durotorq engine, the car just had its mot, whilst at the mot centre, the mechanic commented whilst logging the mileage(86000) that my urban cycle mpg is poor at 27mpg, even though the cars emissions were clean?

I KNOW I DO SHORT TRIPS BUT THE HANDBOOK STATES THAT IT SHOULD BE GETTING AT BEST 47 MPG URBAN, IS IT POSSIBLE A STICKING THERMOSTAT?

We don't have these in the u.S. But I fyou do short trips and the engine doesn't heat up then you will be down on mileage. Also the way you drive can effect this as well. Urban driving is a cross between exspressway and city. So if you only do city with no exspressway then it will be donw also. Also with a ;diesel your filters should be changed regularly, which means the fuel as well as air filters.
