Ignition switch will not go beyond position one, steering wheel will not get out of detent position, and the transmission cannot be removed from park. The ignition keys two will work in the door. I suspect it to be a faulty ignition column lock but may be wrong. How do I remove the ignition column lock if it is defective? Will I have to drill out the two attachment rivets?

Hello,

You might what to try moving the wheel back and forth while trying to move the key. Here is a guide that can help:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/ignition-switch-wont-turn-stuck

Here are some diagrams to help you change the ignition lock tumbler out. (below) you will need to drill the bolts out or see if you can catch the side with a sharp chisel.

Check out the diagrams (below).

Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

Cheers, Ken
