The rear diff on my v6 Toyota hilux is making a whinding noise while I accelerate as well as decelerate, what is the problem and the solution??

Failing diff bearings or a tooth contact problem will show up when you drive and then back off the throttle, it will "sing" with load coming on and off, a wheel bearing will rumble and get louder with road speed and decrease as you slow down, let me know which is your noise pattern.

I'm not too sure on what the pattern is, my dad advised me that I have to change the diff oil, even as the car rolls there's a slight noise

Change the oil first, see if there are signs of contamination
