2006 Nissan Xterra gear problem

My gear does not select again, don't know if the selection cable has cut

Start by making sure the vehicle is secure and can't move. Have a helper shift the gears from inside the vehicle while you checked to see if there is movement in the cable and it is changing the gears on the transmission.
