I have a 2006 mercedes clk350: The car will automatically brake or something is pulling on the engine at low speeds. This usually happens on the highway in bumper to bumper traffic when braking and accelerating to ~20 mph continuously. As a side note - when going down a hill and not pressing the gas pedal, the car will not accelerate. Its as if something is pulling on the engine.

There is nothing that will do that to the engine. Have you checked the brakes to make sure none are sticking?

I haven't checked the brake pads.I actually had them replaced about 3 weeks ago. The car will suddenly slow down even well after the last point of hitting the brakes. Meaning, for example, 20 seconds could go by after hitting the brakes and the car will do this. I would think if the brake pads are sticking it would only happen immediately after hitting the brakes.
