What does the top part of the glove box tension device hook to?

I am talking about the other end of the tensioner; the part that goes up into the box, not the part that screws onto the box.

I believe the glove box comes out as a unit. Check out the images (Below). Please let us know what happens.

When I took out the side plugs and unscrewed the tensioner from the door, it just lowered all the way down and the tension piston just fell down with the lid. I looked but could not find anything that seemed to be where the top part of the piston attached.

Hopefully it did not break off? What does other end look like? Just a hole like screw end?
