Key will turn on and off but won't turn back to come out until I remove battery cable

The interlock systemis not functioning correctly.
When in P position, does the indicator light show in dash with key on?
Try wiggling the gear shift or shifting out and back.

Tried moving shifter. Tried another key. Will only come out with battery cable off

Can you please help. Tried moving shifter. You can even move shifter without pushing on break. Why won't key turn back?

Sorry for delay in replying. If removing the battery allows you to remove the key, it means the interlock system is faulty.

A faulty Park and Neutral switch ( transmission range switch can cause this. You would need to do some diagnosis to get to the cause of the problem.
