The check engine light came on, on my 2006 Isuzu I 280 4 cyl manual trans pickup. I got an error code of P0017. So I checked the camshaft actuator solenoid Valve and sure enough, one of the little screens was chewed up and just about gone. I am changing the oil and the filter once I replace the part tomorrow. However, I am wondering if the failure of the part might have caused any other damage to the engine? What do you recommend I do other than what I have mentioned? Thanks.

I feel that any screen material will be picked up by the filter, I would not be doing anything else myself just now, maybe a cursory oil pressure check with a mechanical gauge just to check specs.
