Does not respond to the switch, is this expensive to have a dealer fix the switch has become useless when trying to control blower speed.

See if your blower relay is stuck first, it should be by the blower, pic included. Then have the switch checked and you don't need to go to the dealer for that type of fix unless it is covered under warranty. If you have a 60, 00 mi warranty they will cover it.

When turn the blower/fan speed control past 2 it blow the 30amp fuse. Also headlites seem to burn out very often 3-4 times a year, could there be a common problem causing or contributing to both problems, such as a faulty overcharging/spiking alternator?

Does the fuse blows when fan speed is low or 2nd?
Does the AC or heater system work correctly?
Is your AC system manual or auto control?

Both problems should be separate matters. Headlight bulbs requiring frequent replacement could be due to quality of bulb used.

Here are the schematics for the AC system.

From the schematics, the resistor is after the blower motor and any fault with the resistor should not affect the fuse. The more likely fault would be the fan motor.

You can test fan motor by using a fused wire to apply voltage to the fan motor to check if the fuse blows.

Mechanic replaced a stuck thermostat this past winter repairing no heat problem. Fan motor worked fine, but is now DEAD on ALL settings. A/C mode activation also delivers NO response (or illuminated indicator light). NO Heat/AC or DEFROST. All circuit breakers (inside/out) test (and visually check) OK.

Ideas?

So basically the blower fan doesnt work on any speed? You will need atest ligh tto se if any power is making it to the blower motor (under right side of dash)If not go to the resistor (next to blower motor) and see if you have power into it in different speeds. Since it doesnt work in any speed it may be the motor, but you need to test for power and ground at the motor first

I am unable to get any air blowing through my car. Hubby replaced the blower over a year ago because the blower would sometimes flip up to #4 speed when it was on #1 setting. This replacement, I thought, took care of the problem. Recently, it just stopped completely - no a/c, no heat, no defrost (and we have rain this week), and the a/c indicator light is off. We checked both fuses and they were good. We pulled the blower controller/resistor and it was good. We checked for power getting from the circuit boxes and it was good, however, there is no power getting to the lights on the control switch. Also, the wiring harness for the blower had a tendency to get hot if I ran the A/C on the #4 setting. We checked it after blower stopped completely and noticed the red wire had burned in half. Hubby repaired the wiring, however, it's not getting any power. What are we doing wrong here?

Check items in pic under hood then check to see if power goes through the blower switch it may be all the wires were bad not just the one and the one that was repaired may need replaced. Or all of them. Also check the a/c relay under hood

Blower motor not working. Replaced fuse and still wouldn't work. Used trouble light to test all the contacts on the fan control of the heater controls, no power to any of them.

Did you check for voltage at the applicable fuse? Even if the fuse is good, if no voltage on the fuse circuit, the circuit is still dead. I haven't looked at your wiring yet, but, I will.

Yes, I use the test light to check and see if I had power going to that fuse, it did have power. When I replaced the fuse I didn't see that it was blown but I still replaced it.

At the blower motor connector, white wire with blue tracer is voltage. Blue wire with black tracer is ground. I need to know if you lost voltage or ground? As the wiring shows, the blower relay has two fuses.

The blower speeds are controlled on the blower motor ground circuit.

The blower for the heater and the air conditioner was working intermittently and then quit altogether which component is most likely to have failed? Also where on the vehicle is the blower motor located?

Could be the AC/Heater fuse, blower switch, resistor, relay and blower motor itself-

COMPONENTS

Disconnect negative terminal from the battery.

Remove the evaporator unit.

Disconnect the blower motor connector and the blower resist connector.
Remove mounting bolts of the blower unit.

Remove the blower unit.
Installation is the reverse order of removal.
NOTE: After installation, evacuate, charge and test the air conditioning system.
