Rear door is ajar light turns on

I noticed it this morning; when at a stop or parked, the car beeps loudly and shows “rear door is ajar” on dash then goes away then comes back (blinking repeatedly between mileage and that) and when driving, it flashes every five seconds. When it flashes, there’s a clicking; kind of like a back and forth clicking sound when it flashes on the dash.
