look under the dash at the clutch pedal, there is a switch there for the starter. make sure it is connected.

Thanks alot Roy...I'll check my battery connections but there was no kind of drag down on the lights or heater blower motor when I tried to re-start the engine so, I'd be a little more inclined to believe that it's some kind of safety switch that's blocking the flow of electricity to the starter...I'll walk back to my car and try to locate the clutch switch under the dash and if it appears to be intact, is there a chance that it may be bad and if so, is it possible to bypass the switch?

yes, it could be bad. you can bypass with a paper clip. connect the 2 wires together

Hello Roy,

I located and bypassed my clutch safety switch but that didn't solve the problem. My battery connections are tight so, I'm wondering if it should be possible to pull start the car to get it home on jack stands to check my starter connections?

you could pop the clutch to start assuming there is no other issue.

Hello Roy,

I tried to pop the clutch several times in 4th gear as my buddy Brian pulled me home today. My ignition switch was on, the engine & trans turned over freely and sounded fine but the car wouldn't even try to fire. My clutch safety switch is still bypassed and Brians load tester says my battery's in good shape?

something else is going on. check all the fuses and fusible links. something may have gone bad.

I couldn't find any blown fuses in the engine compartment fuse box or in the interior fuse box so, I went out and got an Actron 9125 OBDII pocket scanner. After conducting a scan the Actron says "No Link"...I turned the key to the "off" position for 10 seconds as directed by the Actron owners manual and then I returned the key to the "on" position to try again..."No Link". I repeated this process about 10 times allowing the key to remain in the "off" position for an extra second or two each time before I switched the ignition back to "on" and conducting another scan...Every time I tried to scan I just kept getting a "No Link" response...So I decided to check the Actron by hooking it up to my 2011 Ford Escape's OBDII link and within a second or two the LED readout said "Zero Codes". I went back to my 2006 Ford Focus ZX3 and removed the ground lead from my battery for a full minute to re-set the computer but when the lead was re-attached and the scan was complete, the Actron still said "No Link"...
