I have a 2006 F-250 6.0 liter diesel. I have changed the alternator 3 times and it is still quitting on me. Just recently, on the 3rd alternator about a week old, the power inside of the truck went out and the ABS light came on. The dealership put it on the machine and they said that it was the alternator. Does anyone have an answer?

ALT from Ford or parts house? Are replacements 110 amp? Are batteries testing good ie. Load test?

The first two were from Napa and the third was from Ford. I am assuming the batteries are testing good b/c the last alternator was changed by Ford. It is puzzling b/c for some reason the alternators is not charging and the truck runs on the batteries until there is no more juice. I did change both of the batteries less than a year ago.

At ALT wiring engine offcheck for voltage on Orange/Blue and Light green/Red wires. Engining running voltage on large RED and Light green/ red wire. Then measure across batt terminals let me know

Ok. The truck is at the Ford dealership right now and I have not heard from them yet. I will let you know what they find. I just hope they don't break my wallett too much.

Yes they should make good on last ALT if proper testing was not done

I just spoke to the Ford shop and they tried all the wires wiggling them and the computer is still showing a bad alternator. They put me another one on and they will drive it for a couple of days to see if the alternator light comes back on.

Yes me too. They are still saying it is the alternator. I spoke to the mechanic this morning and he is dumb founded. He has never seen or heard of that problem before.
