2006 Ford Bantam gearbox

Theres a knocking sound in the gearbox when I start the engine and put it in gear to go or reverse, is this a serious problem? There where never a problem before and just started a few days ago also I checked the brakefluid leves to make sure its right, please can you just give me a indication whats wrong so it could be fixed

Manual or auto transmission? But regardless the noise is something that should be look at ASAP as it may be a pre cursor to a more serious problem.

Hi Thanks for your reply, yesterday the sound was completely gone and today it's back and I listen carefully, it's only when I put it in first gear and release the clutch slowly there's a click soft knocking sound also if I have to reverse, only happens when you begin to drive stop and drive again only one sound when to put it into gear, it's a manual gearbox many thanks I will wait for your feedback

You may have a worn uni, these will click as power is taken up.
