Dave:

Check wiring to the O2 sensors. Also, check sensors with a live scanner to see if it is operating properly (within spec).

Did that, o2"s check ok and were just replaced 48 hr ago.
The light came back after about 100 mi of driving. Cats replaced twice on the off chance they were bad from the shelf.
What side is Bank 1 driver or passenger? I'm thinking I might have an exhaust leak somewhere. Would a leak on either bank throw the code?

If I can add, if you did not use an oem converter from the dealer, you will replace cats all day long and the light will come back on. There is not enough precious metals in the aftermarkets to keep the light out. Thats why it is 600-800 for factory and 250-300 for aftermarket.

An exhause leak usually won't, but it has happened. Bank one is the driver's side.

Thanks that makes sense, but that being the case I think I'll disconnect the light and change my address to a non-smog county.
1200-1600 is out of the question. And or I'll use some 02 simulators and bypass them all together. Thanks anyway.

Wish I could have helped more. I, like you, live in an area with emissions. Six miles away, it doesn't exist. Needless to say, it frustrates me.

Hey I just thought of something.
What if I were to pull the down stream o2"s and just wire them up out of the way.
They would still be connected, Just pulled out of the main stream. Wouldn't this have the same effect as a simulator?

No, it would set a code right away and the engine would go into what is called a closed loop. The computer wouldn't know how rich or lean to run the fuel mixture. As a result, it goes into a rich mixture.
