2006 Dodge Stratus Auto Transmission Issue

I've had this car for 7 years and this just started literally yesterday. I was out driving and had been out around an hour. Made a few stops but never turned the car off. Shortly after pulling out from a traffic light, the tach revved to around 3500 rpm's and it acted like it did not want to go into 3rd gear or maybe OD. I was going around 45 mph. I let off the gas and it caught. I pulled over into a level area and checked underneath for leaks, nothing, checked the fluid level, fine there, and got back in and proceeded to head home. It did it on me a couple more times in the next 30 minutes. No noises, no smell, just didn't want to take gear and tach increased. After parking it, I checked the car again for the above issues and found nothing. Had the fluid and filter changed a yr and a half ago. This morning it did not register any fluid on cold and after letting it run for a while I checked again for hot levels and still nothing. I ran through the gears again, no problems sitting still, and had someone take me to parts store for fluid. When I returned, I checked the levels again and it was fine. I then drove it for a short drive and the same things happened. I had someone test my fuses and they were good. What is going on with this car? Is the tranny going out? Please help. I've asked many others about this and have been to the dodge forum and found that the governor, shift solenoid, speed sensors, torque converter and fuses could all be the possible culprit, short of a new tranny of course. Thanks for any input given.

OK so a diagnostic scan brought back a P0123 code, TPS.I am told replacing the TPS will fix the problem. Any input on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
