Hi I went to the dealer today and asked them if they could flash my dads PCM. They said they tried and I would need a new one. I can get the computer for 103.00 plus core charge of 75.00 and the relay is 12.00 dollars. The PCM has to be flashed. If I bought this scanner can I flash it myself. I got a price quote to install the computer and change the relay for 300 dollars for that I can do it myself. I just cant flash it. I got a price quote of 80 dollars to flash it somewhere else. Will this tool flash it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Newest-2012-Version-D900-CANBUS-OBD2-Live-PCM-Data-Code-Reader-Scanner-/160855912495?pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&hash=item2573c2702f&vxp=mtr. Thanks.

Let the dealer flash it as your expense will be much greater than the 80 they want

Just add this 1. Why would you think the scan tool could flash your ecm. It doesn't say anything about it. Its a basic code reader that will read some. Live engine. Data

The gm dealer uses the tech2 scan tool with the candi module hooked to a service stall computer with the tis software. That is used to load the calibration files on all the cars computer. Thats a lot of money for that set. Also I think some of the higher end otc scan tools have can flash the computers. You would buy the files from gm to load onto the computers. Those are expensive etheir one not really cost effective for a diyer.I have only used the tech2 with tis software to program the computers update calibrations files etc.
