Breaks have been grinding metal to metal for about a week went to replace them today and the car will go forward in drive. When I put it in reverse it goes into gear, but it only rocks, it won't reverse. I'm not sure if I locked my breaks up or if my transmission is in trouble!

recheck your brakes you probably didn't get the piston all the way back so they are locking up or if in front your brake hoses are bad and not letting fluid through so open bleeders in front see if fluid comes out under pressure.
