My saab 9-3 2005 model broke down last week. The mechanic advised me that my waterpump, full gasket set and cylinder head needs to be replaced. Please can you advise on estimated cost of this in South africa.

We would have no idea in the u.S that would be around $2500 u.S. Put that against your currency exchange to figure it out.

Did u over heat the engine, if yes, did u already remove head from car, for your mechanic to tell u that u need a cylinder head, note the water pump is driven by the engine balance shaft chain & if the coolant ran low the info would have come up on your display screen, did he check if both engine cooling fan are working & if the engine coolant thermostat is good, best tto send cyl head to machine shop to have them pressure test head for cracks & warpage, cause I have done a lot of them that have ran hot till the car just come to a stop engine jammed cause of the heat & the head most of the time comes back good, & there is other time that it is just a thermostat with no head gasket replaced, so check it out really good, is your mechanic familiar with saabs.
