Idles high from 1500?

The tribute is idling high varies from 1500 to as much as 3500 when warm. The problem was intermitent but now is becoming more frequent. I got a TPS code and replaced it. I then thought it was the IAC but replaced it with no change. I have checked for leaks and can't find any.

The throttle body may be dirty not allowing the plate to close.

I cleaned it and it is returning to the pin that stops it

Also if I unplug the iac it idles normal but dies when ac turned on

Ok, then the iac is either bad or the control for the iac has a problem.

Most of the time it is the IAC valve, here is the location so you can swap it out. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
