My car has over 200,000 miles and I don't only want to change the transmission fluid (flush) but also the filter. However, I have mechanics tell me that my car does not have one. Even one of them has taken apart most of the bottom of the car looking for it and cannot find it. Does it even have one, I believe it has to have one, but even at the dealership I have been misoriented.
Can you tell me if it has one or not, and where is the location.

Thank you

There is a transmission filter, but this is internal to the transmission case.

Meaning this is not just inside the cover it is inside the case. So, to change this you would have to disassemble the unit to the point of removing the differential and then the filter will come out.

This means you do not change the filter unless you have to rebuild the transmission.

So, if you want to change your fluid then that is fine, but you will not need to change the filter.

Please let me know if you have questions but I am attaching the material below. Please note the first screen shot is what confuses people as it implies that the filter is inside the cover. However, the second shows that you remove the differential and then the filter which means you have to get to that point first.
