Check for power and ground in the socket. It may have a bad one. If no power arriving at the socket, then you may have a bad turn signal switch. This guide can help fix it

Please run down this guide and report back.

When you step on the brake the left turn signal will not work and it stays solid green. The light does not flash but the right side works. how do you fix the problem?

That is the classic symptom of a broken ground wire on the left rear socket. You can verify that by observing the left bulb's operation will change when you remove the bulb on the right side. Most commonly doing that will result in the left bulb not turning on at all.

First check all fuses in the in car and under hood boxes, then you may need to test the multifunction switch on the column. MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH Remove multifunction switch. See MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between specified terminals while operating multifunction switch lever in specified positions. See MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH TESTING (EXPLORER & MOUNTAINEER) or MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH TESTING (EXPLORER SPORT & EXPLORER SPORT TRAC) table. See Fig. 5 or Fig. 6 . If resistance is not as specified, replace multifunction switch.

Removal: MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH Removal & Installation Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove lock cylinder. See LOCK CYLINDER . Twist tilt lever handle counterclockwise and remove handle (if equipped). Remove upper and lower steering column covers. Remove multifunction switch retaining screws. Disconnect multifunction switch harness connectors and remove switch. To install, reverse removal procedure. WARNING: Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation involving steering column components. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Do not apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy. LOCK CYLINDER Removal & Installation (Functional) Disconnect negative battery cable. Disable air bag system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Insert a 1/8" drill bit or wire through access hole in lower steering column cover (below lock cylinder). See Fig. 7 . Press retaining pin inward and pull out lock cylinder. To install, lubricate lock cylinder. Turn lock cylinder to RUN position. Press retaining pin inward and insert lock cylinder into housing.

Disable air bags by removing the negative battery cable and leave it disconnected for 5 minutes, then proceed and leave the cable off until you have reassembled the column.

Turn signals are inoperable, the flashers work and the wipers on combo switch work. I would like to try replacing the relay. Is the relay for the flasher the same relay for turn signals?

yes, it should be the same relay. Check all fuses and then look into it being the switch itself that it bad.

I purchased my car in August and was happy to find that although it was a '99 and had 117000 miles on it, there were no problems at all. I've had a problem with the turn signals when it gets cold (below freezing). They just stop working. Initially they would blink a few times and then stop and now they just don't work altogether. When the weather gets into the high 30's or 40's they work just fine. I have no idea what the problem is let alone how to fix it. Any help would be great!

take out your flasher relay and keep it warm over night, then when you go to use it, pop it in and see if they work.

check out this guide

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/turn-signals-not-working-blinker

if they work you need a new relay. sometimes they can get moisture in them and when it gets bellow freezing they freeze up causing the metal contacts inside not move.

the turn signal or hazard signals do not work. I checked the fuses and they are ok. I looked for the flasher (yellow and located under the instrument panel) and bought a replacement (Black - model EP27 from Tridon). Note the flasher has 5 terminals. After hooking up the replacement flasher and trying the turn signals and flasher, they still do not work. What else could it be?

Thanks for your help

1994 explorer sport 2 door, bought it with the hazards, blinkers and break lights working, 3 days later all not working. Replaced blinker switch, both flasher cans, and the ignition (unrelated) and still nothing. I'm only left to think it's a wiring issue.

Check fuses #3 #13, #21, and #22 on the interior fuse panel with a test light. You should have voltage at each side of these fuses with the ignition switch in the ON position. If the fuses are OK, then check the harness connectors going to the rear of the vehicle. The connectors are located behind the kick panel trin on the driver side, and at the access panel for the jack on the left rear interior of the car.
