Hello,

I'm looking for a tutorial on changing the transmission fluid for a 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid Automatic. The car experiences a shudder when engaging forward from a full stop, and I've read that flushing the transmission may alleviate this. I'm wanting to double check the location of the the drain and fill locations, or if I'm able to just fill it using the dipstick tube, and finally, if you have any procedure recommendations for this service. Thanks!

If the fluid is old it could be causing this issue. However, I would not be overly confident that this is the issue. Normally a shudder is caused by clutches slipping unless you have the CVT transmission. If you have the CVT then I suspect the steel belt is slipping.

I would definitely change out the fluid because it can't hurt but again, if it is already shuddering then it may be too late.

Let me know if you have questions.

Lastly, it is ok to fill from a dip stick but just make sure it is not overfilled.

Thanks for the reply! It is a CVT transmission; should have mentioned that in the original question. The diagrams are very helpful, and I'll post again next week when I do the procedure. Fingers crossed.

Sounds great. Please let us know how it turns out. If it doesn't solve the issue then we may have limited options but let's hope this is the solution. Thanks
