Engine stalls at over 2500 RPMs after check engine light comes on

I have a 2005 PT Cruiser. I was driving along then ck engine lite comes on, engine stalls, I restart, engine runs fine but when I rev over 2500rpms, engine wants to stall. Under 2500, runs normal. Engine temp is normal. What is the problem, please?

You will need to pull codes from the computer to start diagnosing this. That will be the starting point
