2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser car is smoking help

The car is smoking from under the hood and sometimes into the car. It also smells like burning oil. And it is leaking off to the side of the oil filler cap. We had a diagnostic to check for codes and none came back. There is some oil that is leaking into one of the spark plugs. We have changed the pcv valve. What could this be. We are trying to avoid the repair shop if possible as we cannot afford it. Please help.

The spark plugs are on the top of the valve cover, correct? If so, there is nothing up there than can leak oil on to the plugs other than the valve cover.
