2005 Chevrolet Malibu ignition

When I turn the key on start the dash lights go out and I hear a clicking sound it won't turn over. But sometimes when I let the key go back to the run position from the start position it will crank over by itself is it the ignition switch that's bad?

That has auto start where when you put it to the start position then release it to the run position and it will crank for 5 seconds or till it starts?Do you have a multi meter to do some testing?
