A code check said that there is a failure in the speed sensor, and the transmission just sticks, going to higher RPM with no speed increase when driving. The speedometer does not gauge the speed that the car is traveling. Are these symptoms of a failed speed sensor, and would it be both the input and output speed sensors?

Yes it could be both sensors, replace the output first and see if it cures the issue.

I will have to drive the car with it not shifting, to the shop, going about 3.5 miles. I appreciate your answer. I will suggest the output first to the mechanic. Thank you.
