My Tata Safari is giving a lot of black smoke and pickup has also dropped slightly. Machenic says its turbo cooler needs repair(cores) or replacement as few oil drops were detected by him in turbo. Please guide if there may be anothrr reason of black smoke.

Black smoke will not be from the oil, you will get oil residue in the turbo and induction I would be telling him not to bother as a few drops is nothing. Is this a petrol or diesel engine?

No filter in turbo system, black smoke is fuel smoke, injectors may need looking at. If low compression you would see white smoke from incomplete combustion.
