I have a 2004 Saturn Ion that needs a new battery. I have a new battery from a 1990 Ford Tarus that fits in brakets for the battery in my Ion. Is it safe to use?

Just because the battery fit's in the bracket's doesn't mean it is a correct fit. You have size to consider and if the cranking amp's are correct. Also on that battery since it's in the trunk you probably noticed there is a hose set up on the top side's of the battery. That is so the fumes/gases don't build up in the trunk cabin area of the car that would be dangerous. So your best and safest bet would be to get the correct battery size etc that the vent hose's hook to. Let me know how you make out.
