2003 Saturn Ion STARTING MY CAR

I have a saturn ion 2003 and every now and again I go to start it and it seemd like it wants to start but goes dead the lights and everything will stay on it will take like 15 minutes it get it to fully start.I m clueless please help

Does it seem like the the engine begins to crank then stops, then once you try it again it won't crank at all, and also do you notice the security light flashing when this happens?

Yes it does, and there is a red light that comes on that has a lock symbol and this happens very rarely

If that's happening it probably needs an ignition switch, the electrical part. The contacts in the switch tend to get worn out and set the car into security mode. You might want to look into replaceing the electical part of the switch. It's pretty common in the IONs
