My car will start and then turn off, what is the problem, I hope its my battery

If it starts then dies, it could be many things. Start by checking fuel pump pressure. If the check engine light has been on, have the computer scanned to determine if there is a trouble code stored. Also, if you are able to keep it running by keeping your foot on the gas, check for vacuum leaks and check the idle air control valve.
