The car was driving fine, really a joy to drive.
Car started to idle erratic, on close inspection the plugs and wires was replaced. Car idle normally afterwards BUT on cold start the revs will not increase, if pressing the accelerator the car cuts out. If left for a minute idling the revs increases but very very slowly, like a dead spot.
The car has absolutely no power and giving very bad gas mileage, also battling to get revs when on running temperature
The timing belt, tensioner and water pump was replaced a month before all my troubles started.

Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked the catalytic converter to see if it is plugged? Have you checked the throttle position sensor?

The engine light did not come on. I've checked the idle cold start valve. Not sure how to check throttle sensor or the catalytic converter?
I did noticed previously the engine light came on briefly and the manual said it is a emission problem but this was for a minute or two a couple of months since.

Thanks for your support

As far as the catalytic converter, you can unbolt it or check for back pressure in the system.
