When i'm idling in drive and turn on the heat in my car the RPM's drop below 500. The motor sounds like it's trying to jump out of the car, and it won't stop unless I turn off the heat and the car. I usually wait a couple minutes, turn it back on and then it's fine. Unless I turn the heat back on. I haven't tried anything yet, because I have no clue where to even start. Any ideas?

Have it scanned codes first, it may be your a/c is kicking on when it's to cold outside causeing it. Or something loose in accessory like belt wear/ alternator etc.

I did have the SES code ran, and it came back as a U1000 code. The rep at auto zone couldn't tell me anything about it. I googled it, but it just made reference to the ECU. If that has gone bad, i'd imagine i'd have bigger issues. I turned off the defrost thinking that may be the issue. But, going 65mph down the freeway, it did it again. This time the SES was blinking at me. Any ideas?

Have a pro look at it a u100 code is a communication problem that one module isn't talking to the other. You probably have an intermittent issue with the engine and a pro can find it as the scanners used at auto zone aren't as good as pro models.
