How do I remove the overhead switch panel and replace the lights without destroying the plastic housing? I was able to remove the front access panel exposing the 2 screws without a problem but the front access panel holding the garage door buttons seems inpenatrable.

The best tools to remove delicate trim parts that are held on with tabs, thet yes do break easily, are dental type tools. Your local auto parts store should have them. They are handy to gently probe in on trim piece an look for tab location. Then straight tool is good to push tab in as trim piece is pulled on. It is reallly a mater of going slow and carefully and having good luck. Even the auto body guys break them sometimes.
