2004 F350 powerstroke. When the transmission temperature gauge comes up to temp it then drops to cold and the check gauge light comes on and the tow/haul light flashes on and off. What is causing this?

Both of these leadsgo to the pcm. The only thing that I can think of is that the temp sender may be bad, or the grounds may be loose. There is one ground on the left and right of the engine compartment. Those both go to the pcm. It maynot be completin g the circuit. Also make sure there is a ground wire going from the body to engine.
