I have a 2004 ford f350 powerstroke super duty 6.0 and I went to put it into reverse and it started to drive forward in neutral it drives forward I have no reverse tranny fluidis clean does not smell burnt and when driven it hits all gears

Have a trans guy look at this or amechanic, the cable sounds like it is melted and stuck in drive. Then have your grounds checked, battery to engine and battery to body and engine to body
