Hello, It sounds like the valve cover gaskets are leaking, you don't smell it at freeway speeds because the air flow is forced under the car. Check the valve cover hold down bolts to see if there are loose. If so you might be able to tighten them down a bit. If not, you will need to replace the gaskets.
